Many of Picasso’s works took on the physical features of other creatures along with the spiritual and emotional attributes he felt that he shared with them. Most commonly he honored himself as a bull or Minotaur, feeling a kinship with their uncontrollable passionate nature. Then there were instances where he honored his cat side. He identified with their nature, such as, only responding if in the mood, recalcitrance, intractability and cuddly ruthlessness. It is hard to miss that the cat’s ears are hornlike, and the neck is very bull-like. Several creatures in one; as he saw himself.
