Mohamed Zakariya is the first American born master of Arabic or Islamic Calligraphy. Calligraphy comes from the Greek words Kallos, meaning beautiful and Graphein, meaning writing. His art has been commissioned by president Obama, and can be found in museums, on US postage stamps, and within many collections, including ours. Islamic or Arabic calligraphy features the poetry and philosophy of Arabic culture.
