Picasso usually depicted himself as the Minotaur ravaging a maiden. But here, there is a sculptor as well. It is as if the beast, the man and the maidens, who, can sometimes be subjects of study, and at others, subjects of lust, are all enjoying a more heady and intellectual interaction. Regardless, it is a magnificent example of the master’s drauftsmanship.
