(Pieter van Lint)
1609-1690
Antwerp Belgium
With Artus Wolffort to instruct him, van Lint’s early work was in the style of Otto van Veen, who was his master’s master. He also, as many famous artists have done before and since, went to sites of significant artistry and copied the works of others in order to learn. There was a high demand for the work of Peter Paul Rubens, so his education proved to be lucrative with the sales of what he copied. In addition to Rubens, he also copied Marten de Vos and the Francken brothers.
